Summary
For certain characters, a grounded B-Reverse can be cancelled by using shield while maintaining some of the reversed momentum, allowing for some useful applications.
Requirements
- Not all B-special move can be reversed
- This technique is useless for most characters, and is primarily useful for:
- Sheik
- Sonic
- Diddy Kong
How To Perform
- When dashing forward on the ground, perform a B-Reverse.
- As your momentum shifts away, press shield to cancel the B-special.
- With proper timing, your character will have moved a slight distance back without the shield even showing up.
Uses
- Safe movement and positioning option
- Bait a punishable reaction by opponent
Pros & Cons
- Can be used to fine tune positioning relative to opponent or bait/punish opponent actions
- Not useful for most characters
- Can become predictable if overused
- Input is tricky and can be punished if improperly executed
