Ryu is the iconic martial artist of Capcom's classic fighting game franchise "Street Fighter", first appearing in their 1987 arcade release. Barefoot, carrying a duffel bag and with his iconic red headband flying behind him, he travels the world searching for challengers and tournaments to improve his skill. He is the living embodiment of the martial artists spirit.
Ryu makes his debut in the Smash franchise as a DLC fighter in Smash 4. He is voiced by Kyle Hebert. In Smash 4, Ryu is a powerful heavyweight with strong attacks, combo setups, neutral options and rewarding learning curve.
