Luigi is the quirky eternal second fiddle in Nintendo's "Super Mario" franchise, first appearing in their flagship 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System platformer "Super Mario Bros.". Originally a green Player 2 color palette swap, Luigi has since come into his own and joins his brother Mario in fending off the plots of Bowser to save Princess Peach and the Mushroom Kingdom.
Luigi has appeared in every iteration of the Smash franchise. He is voiced by Charles Martinet. In Smash 4, Luigi is a middleweight fighter with fast attacks, a good combo game and safe recovery options. Though he has an average speed and limited attack range, he compensates with useful neutral controlling projectiles and considerable aerial mobility.
