Summary
When being subjected to certain multi-hit attacks from opponents, it's possible to escape by using a technique called "Smash DI", which allows you to change your position during the attack. This is achieved by either repeatedly smashing the analog stick in a specific direction or rolling the analog stick multiple times back and forth along an edge, usually up or up and away from the attack.
Requirements
- Different opponent multi-hit attacks require tilting the analog stick in a different direction
How To Perform
- Get hit by an opponent's multi-hit attack (e.g., Little Mac's Rapid Punch).
- Perform either of the following (depends on the opponent's attack):
- Smash the analog stick repeatedly in a direction (either up or away from the attack)
- Roll the analog stick repeatedly along the edges in a direction (either up or away from the attack)
- If executed correctly, your character will escape from the multi-hit attack
Uses
- Escape from being locked into an opponent's multi-hit attack
Pros & Cons
- Helps you escape from opponent multi-hit attacks
- Direction of the Smash DI varies depending on the opponent and the attack they use against you
