Dash Smash (S-Smash, Foxtrot Cancel, Foxtrot Stutter Step, Foxtrot Kara Smash)

Summary

Dash Smash is an advanced technique that allows players to execute a forward smash almost instantly out of dash.  It combines the separate advanced techniques of Foxtrot, Foxtrot Cancel/Stutter Step/Kara Smash (can also optionally combine with Extended Dash Dance).

Requirements
  • Must be playing a character with a useful Foxtrot (e.g., Sonic's Foxtrot is too long for this technique to be useful)
How To Perform
  • Foxtrot in any direction by inputting a series of successively timed short dashes across the stage (timing varies between characters).
    • Note: you can also reverse the Foxtrot direction using the Extended Dash Dance advanced technique if you wish to mix up your movement.
  • Interrupt the very beginning animation of one of these dashes with a forward smash in either direction.  This is a Kara Smash, aka a Foxtrot Cancel/Stutter Step forward smash attack.
  • If the timing is performed successfully, your Foxtrot dashing will be canceled into a forward smash.
Uses
  • Essential spacing, movement and mixup option for characters with a good Foxtrot
Pros & Cons
  • Easy to execute
  • Quick positioning and execution of forward smash on stage compared to waiting for dash to end
  • Combined with foxtrot movement and extended dash dances, can become difficult for opponents to predict
